Attorney Timothy Howard holds a full time faculty position at Tougaloo College.  He serves as both a Political Science Professor, teaching Constitutional Law, and as the Director of the Reuben V. Anderson Pre-Law Program.  Howard has also served as Special Assistant to the Provost and is currently Co-chair of Faculty Affairs.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Science degree—summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa—in Biology from Millsaps College, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School – where he was named a Notre Dame Law Scholar – and a post-Juris Doctor Master of Laws degree with an emphasis in Constitutional Law from Georgetown University Law Center where he received the coveted CALI Excellence Award in Advanced Legal Research.

Howard is a skilled writer, having served as a judicial law clerk to the Mississippi Supreme Court and United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi for Justice William L. Waller Jr. and Judge Henry T. Wingate, respectively. He is a licensed and experienced attorney, having successfully served the State of Mississippi as an Assistant District Attorney and Special Assistant Attorney General where he tried public integrity cases and eventually led the Medicaid Fraud Division with responsibility for a staff of over twenty-five, including attorneys, auditors, and state investigators.  Additionally, he is the founding/senior pastor at Anderson South “We Are One” United Methodist Church.

As an intriguing footnote, Howard engages in spoken word artistry and as a former National Institutes of Health intern in the laboratory of allergies and infectious diseases published scientific work to his credit—with the TIM gene named after him for his research efforts-- Mowatt M, Weinbach E, Howard T, Nash T. 1994. Complementation of an Escherichia coli glycolosis mutant by Giardia lambila triosephosphate isomerase. J. Experimental Parasitology 78 (1): 85-92
